DONATIONS

Cascade Peaks ChamberFest serves as a platform for aspiring musicians to refine their skills, collaborate with fellow artists, and showcase their talent. Young artists often face financial barriers that hinder their ability to participate in events like ours. Through scholarships, we aim to remove these obstacles and provide opportunities for deserving musicians to develop their craft.

Your donation directly supports the growth and nurturing of exceptional talent, ensuring that no artist is left behind due to financial constraints. By investing in their education and professional development, you become a catalyst for their success, helping them build a solid foundation for their musical careers. Your support not only benefits the individual artists but also contributes to the overall growth and vitality of the chamber music community.

There are a few ways in which you can offer your support:

  • Marsh Yawney Memorial Scholarship was established to provide a greater opportunity for Academy applicants to participate. These funds go directly to worthy emerging artist participants who would not otherwise be able to attend and benefit from this intensive chamber music training opportunity.
  • Len Lythgoe Memorial Scholarship was established for the new Chamber Vocal Ensemble Program, which will be inaugurated in June of 2026.
  • Cascade Peaks ChamberFest to support Emerging Artists Program and Festival.

Join us in making a difference and empowering the next generation of exceptional musicians. Donate today and help us shape the future of chamber music.

All donations are accepted by LCMS via e-transfer at CPCFdonations@langleymusic.com and designated to Cascade Peaks ChamberFest. Langley Community Music School is a registered charity. (Registered Charity #891389991 RR 0001)

MARSH YAWNEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

All aspects of music were a passion for Marsh Yawney. Because of his ability to speak Russian, he was invited by the Vancouver Cello Club to travel to San Francisco to translate for the famous Russian cellist, Mstislav Rostropovich in masterclasses at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. On behalf of Columbia Artists, he toured the US as translator for the Osipov Balalaika Orchestra together with dancers from the Bolshoi Theatre. Chamber music was very dear to him, and he created many meaningful opportunities for young musicians by producing numerous chamber music camps in Victoria with the Purcell String Quartet as faculty. He was instrumental in establishing a residency for Borealis at the UBC School of Music and also arranging commissions especially for the Borealis of new chamber music repertoire by renowned Canadian composer Imant Raminsh. He acted as the Vice President of the Okanagan Symphony while sitting in the cello section, and later was a founding member of the Sooke Philharmonic. Teaching brought him great joy and he helped many young cellists begin their musical journey. Donation receipts to the Marsh Yawney Memorial Scholarship to provide support for young instrumentalists applying to Cascade Peaks will be provided by the Langley Community Music School.

LEN LYTHGOE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Langley Community Music School has been designated the recipient of donations made in the name of Leonard Franklin Lythgoe, who passed away on January 15th, 2025, at the age of 92. Len Lythgoe was a choral director and a prominent member of the choral community in British Columbia, and in 2010 was named as the recipient of the Herbert Drost Award from the BC Choral Federation. This award is given to an individual who has had long-term positive effects on choral music and choirs in BC. Funds generated will be used to seed and sustain a chamber choir program at Cascade Peaks ChamberFest, with the choral program to be mounted for the first time in June of 2026. Donation receipts will be provided by the Langley Community Music School.
