Residency Programs

The Residency Program is a special opportunity for individual musicians and composers to devote concentrated time for their personal development amid the beautiful natural environment and away from daily distractions. This program is for a limited number of young professionals from 18 to 30 years old. 

Residency Artists Program

The Residency Artists Program is designed to offer musicians who are launching their professional careers an opportunity to dedicate focused personal concentration with their instrument.

The program focuses on building deeper musical understanding with an emphasis on personal development and performance experience. Residency Artists are welcome to participate and observe any of the other Academy events including masterclasses and coachings. Performance opportunities include CPCF concerts, special events, and open masterclasses. 

The Residency Program at Cascade Peaks ChamberFest offers:

· One private coaching session with faculty guest artist.
· Exclusive rehearsal space during your stay.
· One rehearsal with an accompanist.
· Opportunity to perform and play as a soloist at one of the concerts with an accompanist.
· Full access pass to all concerts during the festival.

This program allows musicians to tailor their schedules and focus on their individual goals, emphasizing personal growth and performance experience. Participants are also encouraged to engage with other academy artists and take the opportunity to immerse themselves in a supportive and enriching musical environment, fostering growth and development in their craft.

Each Artist is responsible for arranging daily personal schedules and will have access to a private practice space. Private mentorship opportunities with the internationally acclaimed artists faculty will be available.

Residency Artists will also be inspired by attending the Cascade Peaks ChamberFest events featuring renowned Canadian and international artists performing music from classical, contemporary, and jazz mediums. 

Applicants are encouraged to reach out to the Artistic Director at ad@cascadepeakschamberfest.ca to discuss the program before applying.

*Acceptance is based on merit and limited spaces are available.

*Program limited to strings, and clarinet.

Video Submission Requirements

  1. Video* recording(s) should include a minimum of two selections of your choice in contrasting style and character. Selections may be complete works or movements.
  2. Recordings are the primary adjudication tool and should be of the highest possible audio quality.
  3. Each selection must be completed in one take with no editing.
  4. Recordings must have been completed no more than 1 year before the application deadline.

* Please make your video and upload it to YouTube under the “public” or “unlisted” (not “private”) setting. You may record your audition in one continuous session, or record movements and excerpts separately, as long as recordings are not edited. Please ensure that any separately filmed excerpts are combined into a single Youtube video.

Strings

String players applying as an individual:

  • Must submit two (2) selections of solo repertoire (with or without accompaniment).
Piano

Pianists applying as an individual,:

  • Must submit two (2) selections of solo repertoire.

  • Applicants will need to provide a brief statement of intention for the residency (200-300 words)

Residency Composer Program

The Residency Composer Program is designed to offer a limited number of young composers who are launching their professional careers the opportunity to dedicate focused personal concentration developing their craft. Away from daily distractions, this program offers a retreat to a beautiful natural space instrumental to the creative process.

The program focuses on providing an environment for individual growth, musical development, and inspiration. Composers are welcome to observe any of the Academy events including open masterclasses, coachings, events, and concerts. 

The Residency Composer Program includes:
· One private coaching session with faculty Composer-in-Residence
· One open reading session with the Borealis String Quartet
· Exclusive space for focused personal work and composition
· Full Festival Pass to all concerts during the Festival.

Each Composer is responsible for arranging daily personal schedules and will have access to a private workspace. Limited private mentorship opportunities with the Composer-in-Residence will be available. Once accepted to the program, compositions must be submitted for the reading session with the Borealis String Quartet. 

In addition, Residency Composers are also encouraged to Cascade Peaks ChamberFest concerts and events featuring renowned Canadian and international artists performing music from classical, contemporary, and jazz mediums.
